Jessica had always wanted to return to Paris since our first trip, when she was 10, was cut short due to a transportation strike. Even though I had been to Paris twice before, we had so much fun on a previous Rick Steves Tour, that we decided to book the Paris City Tour. As I discussed our trip with friends, the idea spread and before we knew it, we had 5 sets of mothers and daughters signed up for the tour. Some had never traveled to Europe before, some were pros – and all enjoyed the trip immensely!

THE TOUR GROUP

Nothing makes a tour more enjoyable than a great tour guide and a great group of people!  Traveling with like-minded people that all had clearly agreed to the "no grumps" policy makes a trip like this so much more relaxing and fun!  Our tour guide, Marie, was fabulous, encouraging us to speak French, to try new foods and to explore on our own.  The local guides also added immensely to the experience with their unique perspectives and back stories.

THE HOSTS

A description of our tour would not be complete if I didn't talk about the accommodations and the wonderful people that owned and worked at the hotel. Location! Location! Location!   Our location could not have been more perfect.  It was close to the Eiffel Tower, just blocks from the nearest Metro station and right near Rue Cler.  If we had never left the area around our hotel, we would have been satisfied with the many wonderful cafes, restaurants, and bakeries.  I am gaining weight just thinking about it!  (Luckily you do a LOT of walking on Rick Steves tours, so our weight didn't suffer during the trip:-).

The people that worked there were extremely nice and helpful.  We arrived a few days early and Arnaud, who worked most of the time while we were there, was very patient with helping us find our way and providing suggestions. The breakfasts were wonderful as well.
